Managed to finally get back to this and the problem is now sorted.
Seems operator error was to blame it appears after retrying from the latest versions all is working as it should once updated from the ...testVersions.html link as suggested.

Phil, Glad it's just not me then! Please let me know of the solution. I have tried changing the region on languages with in windows with no luck. A mate who is more computer savy than me muttered something about language packs and regions not being sufficient for some programs if the initial install...

Thanks for the replies guys. I have an emu ecu (silver) as purchased new from the Australian website. It was delivered directly from China. I have windows xp installed on the old battle rig in the shed. I am in Victoria, oz if that makes any difference. I was not aware CD s are not included anymore,...

US version windows not supported - FIXED
Trying to connect the ecu via the USB however I get a message stating us windows version not supported? Or similar and the program closes.
I'm not off to a good start and feeling somewhat frustrated.
