Re: Toyota SC (Soarer) 1UZ-FE - DET Install/Set-Up - Wiring,
So I have done some parts swapping and testing, I may have a faulty IACV motor. When the engine is ready to stall I compensate by lightly pressing the throttle in. The car will "idle" then the "idle" will rise and the AFRs will lean out slightly before its corrected like the IACV motor was stuck and...

Thanks, when I read that in the book I didn't pick up on that.

Re: Toyota SC (Soarer) 1UZ-FE - DET Install/Set-Up - Wiring,

I'm using the pull-up now.
I'm still investigating this issue. I will keep updating as needed.

Re: Toyota SC (Soarer) 1UZ-FE - DET Install/Set-Up - Wiring,
So swapped the ECU out with a 92 unit, and the CEL is gone. However the engine still stalls, I think the 1UZ programming just doesn't like the modded freq signal.
I know the earlier ECUs had capacitor problems, but the architecture of the latter ECUs does differ. I will check mine out.

Re: Toyota SC (Soarer) 1UZ-FE - DET Install/Set-Up - Wiring,
O2 sensors are still connected. Its currently in blow through, the BOV is pre AFM. I think the ECU is going bad, I have a CEL with no codes now. I'm going to swap it out if I have another ECU handy and see what happens. I think I may have caused damaged running the wrong impedance injectors for a wh...

Do you have the DET3 modifying the timing degrees?

Re: Toyota SC (Soarer) 1UZ-FE - DET Install/Set-Up - Wiring,
Since I wasn't able to get the engine to run with FI, I went back to freq modification. I put the stock AFM back in and updated firmware to the standard DET3. So far I've found the freq in from the Karman Vortex sensor for the 1UZ produces a range of ~5Hz - ~1300Hz with 5-6lbs of boost. My initial r...

Yes that was the fuel implant version.

Re: Toyota SC (Soarer) 1UZ-FE - DET Install/Set-Up - Wiring,
I've got everything set up but I cant get the engine to continue running, it starts then stalls when it reaches afterstart mode. Not sure what to check at this point.

Re: whp iat sensor
The IAT wiring is not polar, so either wire can go to either pin.

Fuel Implant Mode - NGO Sensor Input
Hi all, So I was looking over the FI manual, specifically the NGO section. If you’re specifying a target voltage, why does the sensor have to be a narrow band o2? Does the voltage range of the Tables Switch (Pin 2) have a limit that would not allow a 0-5v wideband input? Or is it something in the ba...

Re: GM Style IAT Sensor
For testing I used the DET3 5V reference, once I had the correct resistor selected I double checked where the sensor would be installed utilizing the harness wiring and ECU 5V ref. It had a slight voltage drop from the extra length of wiring but was so close I felt it was good. The attached wiring d...

Re: Toyota SC (Soarer) 1UZ-FE - DET Install/Set-Up - Wiring,
None on that particular item.
I've made my first step towards FI, I got the IAT working. My next goal is to do the necessary wiring for the other req. sensors. I will updated once completed.

Re: GM Style IAT Sensor
With some input from Zach I was able to figure out I was referencing the wrong setup procedure. I was able to get the sensor to read correctly by using a 4.7k resistor on the 5v supply. I tested a few other resistor values but the 4.7k was the closest to the ambient temperature when tested. I'm now ...

Re: GM Style IAT Sensor
The wiring for the IAT is sound. I swapped out the DET3 with another unit and got the same results so it has to be something external, either the .def file or other wiring/other sensors. I will try swapping the IAT with another input, if that works then the challenge will be in FI mode, as the input...

Re: GM Style IAT Sensor
I swapped it out with a new unit, same result. I just got an order in for the ECUM IAT sensor, so I'm going to hook that sensor up and see if it reads correctly. The last thing I can try is swapping out my DET3 with another unit.

GM Style IAT Sensor
So, I have been battling with my GM style IAT sensor (photo attached), I'm curious. Does the .def file included with the DET3 software only work with the IAT sold on ecumasters.com? When I have my sensor installed I see 4.980 volts, when I disconnect it I see 0.0 volts (go figure). The resistance te...

Re: Toyota SC (Soarer) 1UZ-FE - DET Install/Set-Up - Wiring,
Yea, this is interesting. I looked at the inputs you can use and its a freq in/out as well as two others.
