Front ABS wheel speed as VSS?

Post by flubyux2 » Fri Mar 25, 2016 7:44 am

can an ABS wheel speed sensor be used instead of the VSS from a transmission sensor or guage cluster output?

I assume yes, and its just a matter of setting the tooth count and other parameters.
however
im not sure which wire to tap into from the vehicle wiring that will provide a usable signal to the EMU VSS input. Would I splice directly into one of the two wires in the ABS sensor circuit? They are two wire sensors with a + and - terminal. the factory manual states that the ABS signal is Input to the abs ecu via the + wire. is this a signal I can feed directly to the EMU?

you can give it a try.
maybe the - wire has also be connected.
but keep in mind that the EMU input could interfere with the abs ecu. maybe you get an error when using same sensor with two different ecu.
