1jzgte vvdi idle problem

Post by JZX100EMU » Mon Jul 25, 2016 2:49 pm

Hello all,

I've been having some problems with idling my 1jzgte VVTi.

Does anyone have a pin-out from the 6-wire idle valve plug to the EMU?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

RLP

You'll need to find the factory wiring diagram for your car. The IAC valve will have the same pinout for all JZ engines. The middle two pins are 12V switched power, and the outer 4 pins are the stepper motor pins (for unipolar stepper operation). You can use it in bipolar stepper configuration if you leave the center two pins out.

Awesome.

I'll give that a go then.

Thanks a lot.

Weren't you the one who shared a JZZ30 pin out?

I've used that

The current setting I've also used was Unipolar, with the center two hooked to 12V but no joy.
So I'll cut them out and see what happens.

If you have power on the center pins and it's not working in unipolar mode, then cutting power and switching it to bipolar isn't going to fix it.

Post up your wiring diagram and a screenshot of your idle configuration menu, otherwise we're just guessing.

Have you tried reversing the direction? Have you pulled the IACV off the manifold to verify that it doesn't move at key on? Can you share what diagnostics you've performed?

the plunger thing doesn't move at key-on...

I don't hear any "whirring" noise when trying to change the idle RPM whilst standing next to it

I'm considering changing to a PWM based Idle Air Valve, but I assume this should work?

Could any of you JZ runners check which wire on the plug of the stepper corresponds to which pin on the EMU plug?

If you require payment... I would consider it, if it solves it, as nothing is free is this world.

Check continuity from each pin to the corresponding pin on the IACV. Verify that the middle two pins on the IACV are receiving 12 volts. Draw a diagram showing which wire is assigned to each pin on the IACV, that way others can compare your work to theirs. There's also a procedure in the toyota service manual to manually test the IACV, that's worth doing just to ensure that the idle air control motor is good. Throwing parts at a problem rather than doing thorough diagnostics is just going to cause more problems.
