S50B32 Vanos vs non Vanos result.

Post by PSI-Motor » Sat Dec 27, 2014 11:05 pm

We just started to tune this evening. Nevermind the Hp and Torg figures they are not correct. Final result and correct numbers will come in short :)

Look att the torq and hp between non vanos and vanos and we just got started!!. This car has an EMU ecu of course and running in swedish Timeattack series :) The curves are not linear and a bit jumpy due to a vibration problem that effects the reading.

Of corse when you have 60deg of travel on intake cam and 40deg on exhaust :)
Also it`s important at what timing you`ve parked non vanos setup.
In my opinion it`s not so relevant at high-rpm time attack application, where good trade-off for top end with fixed timing can be found.
But in general vanos is great technology and it`s really good we can manage it with EMU. 8-)

The area under the power curve will be always greater for VANOS than for blocked VANOS, so the track performance will be better.
Personaly I love any VVTi systems and I can't understand why people do not use it.

Please post your dyno graph after final tune..

Ppl don`t use it because it`s not an easy task to get vanos work with EMS. I remember when i`ve done it 1st time with other ecu it took about 3 weeks to get figured out triggering & setup. And 1 season later after customer locked cams we lost on dyno everywhere.
