shielded cable

Post by astra vxr » Sun Jan 18, 2015 12:55 am

after being ill for just over a month im just about to build my loom

what sensors should use shielded cable

i will be running a hall crank sensor ( 12v ) ( not useing the vr had problems with them and high rpm on the megasquirt )
1 if not 2 knock sensors
cam sensor
2 egt for now but will swap between all 4 cylinders (swap plugs around )
tps ( wont shield that )
toyota cop :) ( used to use ecotec coil pac on megasquirt but going full seq this time round )

thinking useing shieled for hall, knock and cam is this right ?

when useing shielded wheres the best place to ground the sheilding to block along with power ground /device ground ??

many thanks for the help

Yes use the shielded cable for the sensor you have listed.
In general VR sensors are better than Halls in aspect of reliability.

Connect shields only at one side (eg. EMU) for sensor / emu ground
