JDM Supra/Aristo VVT problem 2JZGTE

I have some trouble with the VVT. I have installed diode and VVT works perfectly with very low frequency only (30Hz). At higher frequency, although cam follows target correctly, I get major hesitations with no apparent reason (only at part throttle). THe problem with 30Hz is that audible noise comes from the VVT gear area and I would like to have it eliminated. ANy thoughts?

At which frequency does the OE Ecu pulse?
Under 20Hz should be non hearable aswell.
Allthough you will allways hear it a bit. (mechanical noise)

Ι think somewhere 200-300 is the OEM ECU (which obviously does not make any noise).

Any other input? Any chance the audible noise at low frequency can damage the cam gear and mechanism itself?

I am using 35Hz and it control very well. Yes it may be audiable, but it is not active at idle, and low throttle. At higher RPM, there are many other noises.... so no issue.

The factory frequency is in the 300hz range, I typically run them at 100-150hz and they work well there. I wouldn't run it as low as 30-35hz personally.

Yes, I tried 333Mhz but I really cannot exlpain the hesitation. VVT angle seems to follow target very well, AFR is rock steady, still I get sth like a misfire from the engine that is not shown in any parameter in the log. Any ideas?

Sounds like you don't have a flyback diode installed. Won't cause problems at low frequencies, but at higher frequencies will cause issues. Flyback diode wiring is covered in the EMU manual and help menus.GearTech_Greece wrote:Yes, I tried 333Mhz but I really cannot exlpain the hesitation. I do have a flyback installed.
