EMU Disconnecting

Hello I am having a couple issues with EMU I have a 91 MK3 Supra with a 7mgte and every time I start the car the emu disconnects. It tries to reconnect but no go. I was told that it may be electrical interference from the ignition system. I have put on more grounds new plugs and plug wires checked and rechecked wiring got a new usb cable with ferrite chokes but still no go. My second problem is I was reading that someone had the same issue with a megasquirt and they solved it by switching to a serial to usb cable so I went and got another laptop with a serial port. With this (windows 10 on both laptops) laptop the software loads I can change things in the software but the status bar and sync are just black boxes no connected or disconnected. Anybody else ever had either of these issues? Thanks.

I am using NGK BKR7E.

All grounds must be in star topology - more don't means better.

Problem with laptop disconnecting solved....updated firmware. Thanks for the replies.
