1uzfe intermittant sync error
Post
by scottc1088 » Tue Jun 16, 2015 12:17 am
im getting an intermittent sync error on my 1uzfe engine, sometimes the car runs fine and sometimes it revs to around 6000 and hits what is like a rev limiter but very harsh with lots of pops and bangs
iv taken a log but it was working fine when I did it, ill attach anyway incase theres something you can see?
I notice there is an option to disable sync over a certain rpm, if I do this it cures the problem but im not sure this is the right way of fixing
thanks

You have several option.
1) Try to set sensitivity switch to eg. 2000 RPM. Above this RPM the arming threshold for CAM input will be high what increase nois immunity of this input
2) You can also disable CAM sync above certain RPM but it is not advised in case of multitooth primary trigger
3) You can connect 20K resisotor in series with CAM sensor input

Ok ill use as until the fault appears again then ill try the first option and get back to you.
Would it be better to change to a 36-1 crank trigger and not use the cam one?

36-1 is better than 12 Mt + cam sync, however there are many 1uzfe with oem trigger that perform very well, so personally I wouldn't do it.
