No cam signal gen 4 3sgte

Post by Saeed238 » Sun Oct 18, 2015 1:33 am

Hey how's it going everyone? I have a 92 Toyota mr2 with a gen4 3sgte swap. I just finished installing my emu into my car and for some reason I'm not getting any signal from my cam sensor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The simplest way is to check senor with oscilloscope if the sensor generates waveform. Also check wiring to sensor (ground and signal).

I have checked for ground at my sensor plug and I was told that the harness shares a ground with my crank sensor and my crank sensor is working. Either way my one wire did have ground and I've checked continuity for my signal wire and I have continuity from the sensor plug back to the plug on my ecu. Also I've tried swapping cam sensors but I just find it hard to believe I have two bad sensors. I just wasn't sure if there was anything else that could cause this issue.

Just for everyone's info, Saeed's EMU and PNP adapter have since been tested on a working MR2 with ST215 3sgte and no problems. Saeed gets a Crank (NE) signal, but no Cam on the scope or the log.

We figured this one out, after Saaed re-installed the EMU he started getting a cam signal, and from the scope we figured out what was happening. Saeed has aftermarket cams, and he installed the cam reference tooth to the end of the cam like the stock cam. He used the distributor slot to reference the trigger tooth, which is a few degrees off from the gen4 cam, and it just happened to line up with the 2 missing teeth on the crank trigger wheel.
