Evaluate tune
Post

Hi,
I taught i post up my VE and ignition tune wich my mapper made a few months ago.
The car makes ±550hp. 2000cc Escort Cosworth, 1200cc injectors,..
I have agressive cams, and i find the idle could be a lot better, is there something i can tweak on the ignition to make idle less "agressive"...?
My tuner lives 1100km away from me and i don't know another person in Belgium who wants to map with the EMU.
Thanx for your input everybody.
Here goes:

I dont see anything wrong in this map.
From what i see i would expect ITB (individual throttle body) ?
Les agressive idle ? = less ign in idle areas. 20-50kPa and 750-1395RPM needs to be lowered to 5-10° and your idle will be much smoother .... it will need some more air (idle valve opening) or Throttle body opening, to get the same idel speed, but will be definitly more smooth.
Yes, may be the VE should be expected at 5000RPM and 100kPa somewere arrounf 100, but it is just wrong setup on start, like wrong injector size or displacement of the engine. But this does not mean it cant work correctly this way.........
All in all, looks ok for me. Yes, you can always make it better, but i have seen worse

Ok very good thanks for your input!!
So...
to have a better idle, the ignition from this area "20-50kPa and 750-1395RPM " should be lowered by 5-10° or BE 5-100? Because now it is about 25-26°.. so could be 15-20 or 5-10°? Just checking to be sure.
Where can i compensate it with more air in that area? (idle valve opening).
Thanks again!

That is a very odd IG map!!! i have never seen someone leaving 25degrees on idle!!!! no wonder it idles badly!
also there is no reason to run less timing at lighter throttle, unless ther engine surges badly on deceleration or something
see attached something like this should be a lot better.... dont pay attention to the boost area your map is probably better suited to yuor engine there if your tuner has done his job, but the idle area is whats relivant

Yes indeed.. my taught also..
So i want to change this!
If i pull back de 25desgrees on idle area's.. should i compensate with anything elsewhere??
Lets say i bring it back to 15°...
Hope somebody can help me get better idle!
