problem with check engine light

Hey everyone,

does anyone know why my engine light glow a little bit. When there should be no signal to the engine light Output it glows a bit. I connected the output to the ground of my engine light LED. Its a standard universal 12V LED.
When i measure the output form the EMU to 12V i have approx 8V. When i Switch on the output i have 12V.

Put a 1k resistor in paralel with led.
