Gear cut time / options

Post by Botasjr » Mon Jul 24, 2017 10:31 am

hi there

lets talk about gear cut into an atmosferic engine, no turbo...

the system is activated by a switch, in this case a sadev gearbox with the original sadev switch on the gear box,
then there is the point nº2, the cut delay, to compensate the mecanycal movement of parts, gear level, etc,
then there is the point n3, the time that the engine dont produce torque, by cuting the spark
and finaly, the point nº4, ignition retard time, this one associated to a retard angle value,

my questions are:

what is the real purpose of the retard time, and angle?

what is the best way to determinate a god cut time in this open loop system?

does ecumaster have ideia to implement a closed loop gear cut strategy?
for exemple
the ecu knows what gear is engaged
the ecu receives the switch information
cut the ignition
and restores ignition, only when the ecu receives another gear engaged.

thanks for all information

closed loop will be probably in pro version..

ignition retard is design to slow down application of the torque to avoid "ringing" of dogs..
there is no other way to determine correct settings but testing in real conditions not on dyno ..

what could be a good retard value, for a 220 bhp engine and 9000 rpm?
im using 20º retard

is depend if the gearbox and engine inertia.. just check log while you driving and look for rpm oscillation after shift..
