2jz-gte non VVTI (starting issues)

Post by SSC_Master » Mon Feb 26, 2018 9:37 pm

Hi mates,

I’m not happy how my 2jz-gte non VVTI starts and I don’t know what to do.

It reacts as follows:
When I, in the morning, turn the key it takes about 4 till 6 revolutions and the engine start and has a stable idle. This is absolutely ok.
A few seconds later, I turn it off.
some seconds later, I turn the key again…after 4 till 6 revs. It starts for half a second and goes’ of again…I’m still holding the key in starting position…it takes now another 10 revs and then the engine slowly starts again and climbs up to stable idle.

I don’t understand the difference between these both starts. Why doe’s it start the first time so easily and the second time so hard. Is it on the second start to rich or the lean ?

Is anybody here who had similar experiences?
Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Yours sincerely

Probably, the fuel evaporates better, as you already got some heat in it.
Enable Lambda without engine RPM, wait for the sensor to heat up, then start the car and see how your mixture is doing.
You'd probably want the mixture a little richer then lambda 1 on start up.
Tune your after-start and warmup enrichment accordingly.
