EMU on 8 cyl. engine

Post by vagman » Thu May 14, 2015 5:57 pm

Hello all,
Guys, I need your help. It is about installing EMU on 8cylinder 5.5L 32V MB engine. The project is for NA engine in SD mode. It has 60-2 tooth crankshaft mounted TW with (probably) Hall sensor and 4 camshaft 4 tooth trigger wheels, hall synch sensors aswell. We are using the OEM 8 injectors (HI impedance) and 8 VAG "smart" coils.
I can't find in the EMU Manual neither here any information concerning the 8 cyl engines so this board is my only hope.
I guess the EMU set up will be based on a 4 cylinder engine. So, here are my first questions:
1/ How to configure the ECU?
2/ How to wire in 8 injectors (four pairs)? I know every pair should be of two separated by 360 deg cylinders.
3/ How to wire in 8 smart coils (the four pairs of TTL inputs)?
4/ Is it possible to PWM control 4 valves for advancing/retarding the four camshafts?
Endless thanks in advance for your time and support :-)
Regards!
Ivo

Thank you gregpe,
What about controlling 2 vvt, i.e. only the inlet camshafts? ..Or to pair 2 inlet cams/valves on one EMU output and the 2 exhaust cams on the other EMU output control channel?
Thanks!

from my experience there are differencec with pwm for each cam all depend of oil temp and lot other ..
i would suggest fix exaust cams or make them with adjustable pulleys and control inlet cams
