Weird bog 1k to 2k rpms

Post by kornfed2jz » Sun Jun 07, 2015 6:14 pm

I finally got the car running and now have a issue when I rev or drive the car between 1k to 2k rpms I have a bog out issue or misfire where it cuts out but once I get past that it's smooth as can be. If i turn in second gear and the rpms are down to 1500rpms it bogs and stays at 1500rpms as if it can't get past it till I downshift to 1st wondering if it could possibly be a fuel issue if I'm dumping to much. Will get a log later when I get out to the car.

Wondering if it would have to deal with me using a 7mgte map on a 2jz na-t setup? Would it help if I used a 2jz map?

Please send the log file, then we will be able to analyze this.

so when i adjusted my idle parameters changed the frequency and steeper range and fixed the bogging but still have this surge at 1500-1700 RPM range where it still makes it so I have to take off around 2k rpm range and i dont like that i want to just be able to take off normally and not have to worry bout the surge cause it will make it as if my car will die if I try to take off and it surges the rpms just dive down. If i hold the throttle at idle at 1500 it will just surge the whole time dip down to 1k then back up to 1500. here is a log of idle and holding it at 1500 and letting it surge.

The log shows that you are moving the TPS while you said that you hold it at 1500RPM, so there is something that makes your TPS moves!? Other thing there is something with the fuel cut, are you sure of your fuel cut settings?! try to disable it, also try to have solid idle without using the idle valve, by opening the throttle for a little, when you have that done then move to the idle and settings, hope this helps you :)

My TPS says it's moving! That's weird lol where do you see this at? How would it be moving? Its tight on the throttle body. I'm going to mess with the fuel cut settings and see how that goes. How would I disable it? I'll post my configuration file when I get to my laptop. Also the intake manifold I have does not have a idle air control valve.

maybie you have a faulty tps, check it by going to LOG / Analog Inputs, SLOWLY depress the pedal and it should rise the voltage lineary, if at some point you see it going down or erratic you got a faulty tps.

I use to have somewhat of a same issue but after lowing my frequency range and raising the stepper motor, it's not doing as much but it still does it here and there. sometimes when i put in the clutch pedal and let go ( not in gear) rpm bounce a little for 3 seconds from 700-1500. It's weird. I need a Tune :(

Did you look at the log file parameters that you posted! when you hold RPM the TPS reading should be fixed, in your log its closing and opening (Moving)
How would it be moving?
read the log well, and then decide if it's faulty TPS or something else, you should know this, not me!
Also the intake manifold I have does not have a idle air control valve.
Then why you are wasting your time in and adjusting the idle parameters!! look for the problem somewhere else!

you can put high RPM numbers to disable the fuel cut try 10000RPM and so, as I attached photo of your log to see where it says that your TPS is moving :)

Plus you have 10AFR at idle, try to fix it.

Alright I took the fuel cut out and did adjust my idle parameters a tiny bit and no more bog or whatever you want to call it. Changed it when I got off work and drove it home and didn't have an issue once. Now got to figure out how to lower my idle a bit and tune it. I'm trying to do this myself as much I can till I take it to a tuner. First time standalone so it's a learning process. Thanks for everyone's help I really appreciate.

nice to hear that :)

If I understand you correctly from your above posts, you are not using Idle valve so you should find the throttle stop screw and try to adjust it to have the required idle, and try to have fuel reading between 1 lambda to .90 (14 to 13 AFR), unless your engine got extra modification and require more fuel on idle, plus from the log you posted before, it looks like you have 21 degree on the idle area , which kind of too much, try to lower it and see how the RPM acts, so start by lowering the ignition at idle , then fix your fuel, if didn't go low as you want try with the throttle stop screw.

Thanks alot! Stupid question what settings would be the best to adjust the timing I noticed it today when I was driving it would go from 21 to 23 at idle which is alot. Car is going to be getting tuned end of july.

Lower is better as long as you don't have high EGT, try something between 10 and 15, but I strongly suggest to consult a tuner that can take a look at the car its much better than giving you numbers that would hurt your engine while we cant see how it will react to timing and fuel.

Thanks I adjusted it some and got the idle a bit lower and ignition down to 15.
