3sgte Rev 3 High IAT

Hi,
Is it normal for the iat is fired so fast? Just accelerated 3 or 4 times to full boost (1,3bar/1,4bar) and the temperature reaches 70 degrees. I understood that the original 3sgte Rev 3 watercooler supported over 350 hp.
My exhaust system is 3" but I recently changed a stretch (about 1 meter) and I've put a universal catalyst in a 2,2" tube to approve ITV/TUV. How will this influence?
I`ve attached cold and hot log.

Isnt 1.4 Bar a bit much for the stock turbo? And why are your boost levels so uneven? It looks like it fluctuates like crazy.

Its turbotechnics s148-3

. this is the problem, fluctuation are caused by IAT corrections. I dont know if oem watercooler its enough

I don't see any IAT corrections in your log (may have missed it), but I do see Boost duty dropping out from boost PID error correction. It seems you are relying too heavily on the PID correction, and it is adding 15% DC until it overshoots target boost, where it seems to overcorrect. I would turn PID correction off, and get boost dialed in in open loop first, then the closed loop control is not working so hard.
I'm assuming you are using the ST205 MAT sensor as IAT, and the stock ST205 intercooler? If so, I think you are just heat soaking the system, it does not have much of a reservoir. If you are not, you will want to run the intercooler waterpump almost constantly, and make sure you have good fans on the IC radiator. then add a reservoir if you can find the room.

True. In this map havent IAT correction because dont modify this table. In other maps when iat reach 60/70º begin to do corrections 95%/90%.......
I try use first open loop. I dont understand very good cloose loop, PID, etc and think that for this reason don't get boost under 4000rpm.
I use stock IAT sensor and stock intercooler. My car its celica ST205 then I havent IC fans. How to do intercooler waterpump runs constantly? Can I do by Emu?
Thanks

I have done same engine before on another ECU, as we live in relatively hot weather country, after few pulls the IAT reading reach to 80c-90c, the best I found to convert it into front mount cooler, and everything after it were great.

Do you eliminate complete stock system or only changed front radiator?
What size advise me? I'm from Canary Island.

Here we removed the stock intercooler and put aftermarket china front mount intercooler, the IAT dropped significantly.

What pipe diameter use? Seems 3". Do you have lag?

You don't get more lag just by going up in Intercooler and piping size, thats a bit of a myth
I have tested this in the dyno

ok, then what is the advantage/disadvantage to change bigger pipe size?

If you are so worried about lag and such things, you can do the pipes from turbo to intercooler in the size of the turbo outlet, and from intercooler to throttle in the size of throttle, the issue here that I didn't like the stock design of putting the intercooler straight above the engine, specially that the exhaust manifold is not that far as well from the intercooler, so a front mount intercooler well get the fresh cold air and do pretty good job in lowering IAT readings, as there was no noticeable loss in boost or extra lag as well from using 60mm from turbo and 76mm to throttle.

Ok. Will be enough 560mm x 180 mm x 57mm intercooler? or better standard 600 x 300 x 76?

I would go with biggest could fit

Agreed! If anything you might pick up a little response with better flowing pipes and intercooler. You will definetly gain from cooler IAT.

I think that have problem with intercooler water pump. It isnt normal that 1,1bar reach 95c. Please see 2 logs attached, first log its long pull 4º gear, 1,1 bar and 95c. Second log drive normally 100km/h to low rpm and low boost and IAT dont decrease too.
How can check if my Intercooler water pump works?

open the charge cooler cap , blip the throttle the water should swirl , if its running constant it should be swirling all the time , if its still the pump isnt working
what are your calibration settings for the stock toyota senser , i use the same and the "correct " values would be handy ?

Mine is different but not enough to reach 90c. I dont modified this calibration to base map.

did you check if your pump is working ? only takes a second ..

I just do it and bad news

. The water does not move or have swirls. In addition, a very rare thing is that the intercooler water reservoir is full of water
