Cam and crank trigger options for Mazda

Hi all,

Im looking to buy this unit to run my Mazda 626 turbo with the F2T 4cyl engine.
I want to run toyota coil on plugs and get rid of the factory ignitor, coil and distributor system.
I will use the factory distributor as a crank angle sensor.
The factory distributor has 3 VR sensors.
NE = 24 tooth wheel (no missing teeth) crank signal
G1 = TDC cylinder 1
G2 = TDC cylinder 2

My question is will the EMU ecu need all three signals or just NE and G1?
From what i read, i may not be able to run wasted spark setup using the stock signals?

Thanks in advance for any advice

You will be able to use NE plus either G1 or G2 but scope them both and chose the one that is best between the other NE signals if there is any difference

you can directly run coil on plugs with no igniters and use wast spark if you want no problems at all. But there is no reason not to go full sequential

Note setting for the NE signal will be 12 tooth crank signal

Thanks for your reply.

I got it now.
24t = 360deg
12t = 720deg

I was thinking I may have to grind one tooth off the NE wheel and sync TDC cyl1 for both NE and G1 sensors?
I guess the ecu is clever enough to define TDC using only NE and G1 signals?

Full sequential is the way to go.

I will definately be picking up one of these ecus soon.

You need to use just 2 signals

Excellent :D

Now i know how i can setup my ignition system.

Last question is any recommendations for which knock sensor to use?
Factory mazda one has a voltage output from the knock module to the ecu. i don think i can use this one.
