Apexi boost solenoid?

Post by aaronRX72JZ » Tue Sep 22, 2015 9:12 am

Has anyone tried using the apexi boost control solenoid with the emu I have it hooked up and can't seem to get it to work correctly. It won't change DC.

If you have this one

and had isntaled flyback diode, it must work.

It should work even without flyback diode. Maybe solenoid is broken? When You connect +12 and ground directly does it work ?

i have it connected without flyback diode. it will work but only if i have it set to reverse polarity and the only thing i can change is the overall operation duration by lowering the solenoid frequency from 17Hz to 5. im guessing that it should be working without changing the polarity?

Thats the same one i have... i've manually tested the solenoid valve and its seems to be working correctly. and ive checked my wiring several times cant find any issues.

any ideas? maybe a ECU issue? is there a way to check DC operation from the ECU with a multimeter?

Use some small bulb like 12V 5W and try to use DC 10-90% it should come brighter or darker............. this is the easiest way.

So I got it working. Turns out my emu won't operate the solenoid if the key is on the engine has to be running... Is this normal? Also the correction response is a little slow. I have frequency-25hz, Kp-1, Ki-16, Kd-0, and interval limit-400. not quite sure which to change to increase the DC error response speed.
