6 cyl wasted spark and bank fire injection settings

Post by Denisuk » Thu Jun 09, 2016 9:15 am

Didn't found an answer here and in EMU manual, so the engine in question is 6 inline. 60-2 crank, no cam sensor.
igniton order is 1-5-3-6-2-4
COPs are wired each one to corresponding ignition output.
Injectors are wired similarly (each one to one injector output)
Ignition outputs settings:

Injectors phase settings:

Should it work or should i wire injectors in 3 pairs and use different settings for injectors phasing?
Please correct me, if i'm wrong.

I have a similar question.
6 Cyl Wasted Spark Ignition. Sequential injection. CAM + Crank Sensor
Std. firing Order 1-5-3-6-2-4
Im using three original Mercedes passive double fire coils.
One Coil per cylinder-pair:
Cyl 1&6: Ign Out #1
Cyl 2&5: Ign Out #2
Cyl 3&4: Ign Out #3

That would be my Settings:

Ignition Event 1 = Ignition Output 1
Ignition Event 2 = Ignition Output 2
Ignition Event 3 = Ignition Output 3
Ignition Event 4 = Ignition Output 3
Ignition Event 5 = Ignition Output 2
Ignition Event 6 = Ignition Output 1

Injector 1 Phase = Ignition Event 1
Injector 2 Phase = Ignition Event 2
Injector 3 Phase = Ignition Event 3
Injector 4 Phase = Ignition Event 4
Injector 5 Phase = Ignition Event 5
Injector 6 Phase = Ignition Event 6

Injectors are wired individually of course.

Are these settings alright?

Thanks!

should be

Ignition Event 1 = Ignition Output 1
Ignition Event 2 = Ignition Output 2
Ignition Event 3 = Ignition Output 3
Ignition Event 4 = Ignition Output 1
Ignition Event 5 = Ignition Output 2
Ignition Event 6 = Ignition Output 3

Injector 1 Phase = Ignition Event 1
Injector 2 Phase = Ignition Event 5
Injector 3 Phase = Ignition Event 3
Injector 4 Phase = Ignition Event 6
Injector 5 Phase = Ignition Event 2
Injector 6 Phase = Ignition Event 4

Thanks Mate.

I'm always forgetting about the firing order. LOL

I have the same setup but the result of my confused thoughts is the following:

Ignition Event 1 = Ignition Output 1
Ignition Event 2 = Ignition Output 2
Ignition Event 3 = Ignition Output 3
Ignition Event 4 = Ignition Output 1
Ignition Event 5 = Ignition Output 2
Ignition Event 6 = Ignition Output 3

Injector 1 Phase = Ignition Event 3
Injector 2 Phase = Ignition Event 1
Injector 3 Phase = Ignition Event 2
Injector 4 Phase = Ignition Event 5
Injector 5 Phase = Ignition Event 6
Injector 6 Phase = Ignition Event 4

With this setting the Injectors spra when Engine is in Exhaust cycl........or am I completly wrong ?????? :o

Your Injector Firing Order is wrong, if they are wired 1-6 in corresponding order with the outputs.
If you are using a cam signal which is showing TDC of Cyl 1, it should be 1-5-3-6-2-4.

As far as i know by now...

if you set them to coincide with the ignition even you can then set the actual timing with the injection angle table. (only works in sequential mode and with recent test version firmware)

Hi Rama & Others,

Just going through this now with a 2JZGTE in full-sequential and the setup is a little different on the EMU to other ECU's I have worked with.

If I have wired both my ignition & injectors by matching the output to corresponding cylinder:
Output 1 > Cyl 1
Output 2 > Cyl 2
Output 3 > Cyl 3
Output 4 > Cyl 4
Output 5 > Cyl 5
Output 6 > Cyl 6

And set my Ignition firing order to be 1-5-3-6-2-4 as above, what will be the injector phasing if I do not manually set it?
I noticed in Fueling > Injectors Phase all 6 phase's are set to Disabled by default, and injection angle is set to Start at ignition event.

This says to me I will be firing my injectors on a closed valve (during combustion for that cylinder) the whole time, is this correct?

As this is a fresh engine I want to ensure my injection angles are correct particularly for first time cold starts to avoid any potential bore-washing by firing the fuel on a closed injector at idle/low RPM. I dont want it pooling up behind the valve under those conditions so just want to wrap my head around this.

Thanks,
Hayden

How did you change the firing order?

Bmw m52 is 1-5-3-6-2-4

So how do I change the ignition output to:

Event 1: 1+5
Event 2: 3+6
Event 3: 2+4

Thanks.

yes thats the correct way to wire everything but you need to assign the injectors to something otherwise they wont open at all!!... disabled = disconnected

They willl open at what ever ignition event you set them to so that means what ever cylinder is also on that EVENT by default the injector will open at the point of base ignition offset of that cylinder so that is the trigger angle setting before TDC on the compression stroke. If you select point of injector close then you can use the injector phase table which allows you to move the squirt time to a point typically 400 degrees later which will close the injector 40 degrees after TDC on the intake stroke..... sorry its a little complicated but hope that makes sense, luckily its not all that important :)
