Ignition Coil Dwell Time for MSD Blaster HVC PN#8252

Post by rockyboist » Thu Jul 07, 2016 6:11 am

Anyone who has an MSD coil can share what dwell time they have put? I have an MSD Blaster HVC PN 8252, I'd like to know the correct dwell time to put, I have been advised to put 1ms across all the cells but when I did it was rough at idling. Feels better with what I currently have but I have read that too much dwell can cause the coil to overheat. SO Id like to set it just right to have a better performance and longevity of the coil at the same time. This is what I currently have and I believe it was intended for the stock coil of 3sgte 2nd gen.

just lower it until its suffers missfires or roughness then go back up just a little.

You see I have 3+ms from 6 - 15v, so do I need to change these to less than 3ms? 2 - 2.5ms perhaps?
