There is no normal level of knock. The level depends on how you setup your knock sensor. The more gain you will set the higher is the resulting level. So you have to setup your sensor that it measures the engine noise in a good way and setup the knock threashold while running engine without knock. Then when knock occures it will go above the treashold and ecu will register knock.

Hi are those correct settings for a Bosch knock sensor? EMU reports knock level = 0 at all times. Toyota 3S-GTE engine

on my 3sgte i use similar but the gain is 2.00 uSec is at 100 and ive never seen a value over 1.3

I have just been tuning the car with a tuner, driving for 3 hours on a highway and everthing looks okay ;-) If I understod my tuner correctly, he explained the amplitude of the voltage is sort of noise level of engine and knock would look like a sudden spike in the knock sensor voltage.
