stalling below 800rpm no matter what?

Post by flubyux2 » Tue Nov 03, 2015 11:01 pm

well, I took a scope of my car when the rpm drops down to the 800 range.
no matter what I do in the pid or ign idle table, or the commanded idle rpm, the car will always die.
I even made sure to set my base idle air bleed/throttle stop screw to 950rpm with the iacv capped off. so it "Should" be able to idle even if the iacv is parked with the PID and everything turned off.

it looks like my secondary trigger wave disappears below 800. do I have a bad sensor? too much resistance on that circuit: 20k ohm? idk where to go next. right now, ive just set my idle at 990 with an overshoot of 100rpm dialed in with no AC or PS load. its recovering and catching itself on down rev while just sitting at in the driveway.

Please post a scope on idle at around 1000rpm

That was idle at 1000.
The sync is perfect at 1000 and cranking.
But you see the tail end of the idle rpm where I load the motor with power steering input. Then the rpm drops below 800 and the secondary trigger signal disappears and then the motor died.

ill look for that sensitivity setting and see if it will change anything.

im also going to try upgrading the firmware too. it failed to take the first time and idk why.

heres an idle log of it stalling out.

I think I may have fixed it.

I must have gotten an old emu setup with old firmware and client on the dvd.
So I was missing a lot of the tables that improve drivability. I updated the client to the 1.1_rc1. That gave me all the new parameters and tables I didn't have with 1.012 or whatever it came with. Next I tried to update firmware.
Fail.
It gave me an error and wouldn't finish. It told me I needed client 1.151. But that's not on the USA webpage.
I found it on the polish page, downloaded and downgraded to 1.151, then Successfully updated the firmware which matched the client.
I have been able to make the necessary changes and so far it's been idling 95% as good as oem, including ac engaged with the compensation table utilized.

I also was able to lower the rpm sensativity of the secondary pickup by 100rpm and that may have improved my idle strength at lower rpms.

My issue seems to be completely solved as of the time being.

thank you!

still idling and driving very well.

only thing that's a bit off is the response time of the idle-up function with ac mag signal input. the motor bogs down 300-400rpm before the iacv takes effect. then the rpm corrects just as quickly as the rpm drops. could just be inherent latency in the iacv stepper motor and perhaps no way to work around this. open to any ideas though

yes i noticed this exact same problem! it would be good if the ICV would open up as soon as the key is switched on.

I know the factory ecu has a permanent power supply that is used to open the valve just after the ignition is switched off, so maybe there is no easy fix

I changed my iacv dc when cranking back up to 75% from 30%.
So that did help for startup low-rpm bogging with the ac on.
Give that a try if yours is not already set To a high dc
