2JZ knock sensors

Post by Sm887 » Tue Sep 20, 2016 5:21 pm

Hi,

I was wondering about how a actual knock would look like in the log? If anyone has a log when an actual knock happend, i would like to se. Dosent matter what engine.
And if anyone could look at my log?

you are best to change to the round 2-wire sensors with the hole in the middle

I bought 2 Bosch knock sensor with connector kit and installed them.

Still have no clue either engine knocking or not by looking at log.

And then just use normal Bosch donut style KS

I could be changing to bosch sensors, no problem, but ill need to understand the reading of them.
Reading more about this it; seems like the 2jz knock frequency will be around 6,3-6,6 kHz, and at the 2JZ sensor
is a resonat one, witch will react (resonate) at the knock vibration freqency, and will show as a much higher value than the normal engine noise during knock. However, i dont know how well these sensor work? And what voltage i should expect? Should i exepct everything over 4V etc? Should i expect lagre spikes to be knock? Are 2jz stock knock sensor useless? Does anyone have a log from their 2jz, that i could take a look at to compare to mine?

With the bosch sensors, you will se the hole vibration spectre.
This is all just from my understanding, so please correct me if i am wrong.

Problem is, that the stock det sensor has only one wire + shield, so you are missing reference ground for this sensor. I know this sensors very long, and there was always too much noise on it. I was never ever able to use them on stock wiring. I am now doing new harness on every car and using high quality shielded cables for cam, crank, det sensors ...... with Success. On EMU you can use widerange det sensor like Bosch and specify your resonating frequency.

Looking at your log, it does say that you are having knock. If it's correct i cant tell you. What settings do you have for knock sensing?
You are running pretty lean...

I dont set anything for knock sensing (dont know how to set).
Just install knock sensors.

It is lean but it is normal if using Autronic.
I use 2 AFR meter at the same time.
