timing light

Post by boostedkane » Wed Oct 26, 2016 7:29 am

hi i have started my 2jzgte and am trying to adjust the static timing.
i put a hi tension cable between my coil and plug and connected the timing light but am not getting the flash.
i tried the timing light on another car and it works. i then took 1 hi tension from this car and plugged it into the 2jz but still no flash.
am i doing something wrong here?

thanks

i got the light to work. all i had to do is not close the clip over the wire and leave it open. i then altered the ignition to match actual ignition which i had to move the trigger angle to 88. but for some reason which i cant seem to solve i randomly loose sync for an instance.

the file for the log is too large to upload here. so maybe i can email you it or something?
help us much appreciated

You will need to change falling / rising so that you get tooth 2 and 66 degres otherwise something is wrong.

Did you wire it in yourself or is it a pnp?

i did all the wiring my self.

so i should change my first trigger tooth from 3 to 2?

yes i did lock it at 0 and i had to adjust to 88 deg to align to 0. but i also noticed that the mark is moving. i have a sync problem also. if i can send you a log you might understand me better

thanks but it is sorted now,
i had faulty coils.
swapped to a new set and no problem.
have had the car running a few hours with minor issues

the lambda occasionally goes to 1.98 and stays there for about 30 seconds than starts working again
i dont know how to wire in the oil temp sensor or the fuel level sensor
