FEATURE REQUEST: ANTILAG (over run boost enhancement)

Post by bondango » Sun Jan 11, 2015 2:38 am

Jakup, it seems that the DET3 has enough hardware features that it could be used as a Device for Antilag. Not be be confused with 2 step or launch control.

Nobody in the world supplies a standalone ALS Controller, and even many expensive standalone ECU's do not provide a function for real ALS control, they usually say they do but in essence it is only simple limiting, flat shift or launch control.

1. Set input Analog input for throttle
2. Set Antilag enable Throttle position (usually 0% or voltage value on throttle closed)
3. Set Antilag min RPM (RPM at while Antilag timing is in active)
4. Antilag fuel Enrichment % (usually 30-40% enrichment which is applied to current cell in fuel map)
5. Antilag timing adjust value (-1 to -40) (retards ignition when antilag active)
6. Antilag PWM Value (hz)
This is used to control a simple Air by pass valve (such as a simple 2 pin bosch idle valve) when Antilag
is active. The introduction of air after Throttle plate is what controls harshness of antilag system.

TBH at the Pricing of the DET3 units, even a standalone Antilag controller would be a viable option if it cannot be incorporated into existing DET£ firmware.

Id like this as a seperate feature but if you have a det3 with internal map sensor you can pull large amounts of timing and dump fuel on overrun, Helps if you can shift fast but i could hold 3psi on gear change OFF the throttle when changing from high rpm. but if the throttle dropped below say 4krpm id lose boost as i didnt want to pull that much timing under that rpm for daily driving

yes we used to do that with most piggy backs and also custom ecu images for evos and such, basically called it "pops n bangs"
Problem is it has to be done in the higher RPM of the high vac areas to avoid high vacumn mid range cruising areas which effect
driving :(

Yeah thats why, like i said it drops off after 4k, because we had it set to only work over that. It does work though and if your going below that rpm do you really need it? Or you just want it for show? If thats the case just use the launch control on a clutch switch and set to lower rpm

no its not for show :) i have found another way round which may work

1. Set parametic output 2 and connect to spare analog channel say CH3
in parametric settings use
A. Anaolog sourve for Throttle postion < 5% (i.e. off throttle)
And RPM > 4000

Then in Lanch control configuration set the following
1. Set in put as CH3
Set min RPM 4000 and Cut of 4500, set retard amd enrigment.

So, when you off throttle and RPM is more than 4000 then launch settings will be activated i.e. retard and enrichment

Good idea, I don't see why that couldn't work. My only question is why the cut off at 4500rpm? Surely the cut-off should be above the vehicle's rev limit, so the retard/enrichment can happen but the ignition doesn't actually cut (otherwise you would only get the benefit of antilag when the rpm dropped to below 4500rpm until 4000rpm)
