Fuel Table: Modify vs Load

I don’t fully understand how these two functions work. If I set the “Modify” attribute to my AFM output signal (Analog Input #1), the engine will run just fine. I don’t understand why this works for the “Modify” attribute, and not “Load”. What is the difference between Modify and Load? I don’t understand the explanation in the manual.
