HELP NEEDED - DET3 constantly disconnecting from PC
Hello,
We have tested several PC's and all of them are randomly being disconnected from DET3.
I also tested several USB cabels.
Do you have any suggestions on how to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance

Using correct usb driver? If Yes change your sparkplugs to resistor plugs and check your ignition system.Krum wrote:Hello,

Re: HELP NEEDED - DET3 constantly disconnecting from PC
Hi
It's a Mercedes w202 m111 engine. All ignition wires are ok and covered in the engine.
Before DET3 I was using SMT6 and had no problems at all.
DET3 is disconnecting randomly from the PC. One time is while the engine is idling and the other time is when under high load. If just cruising around without or with light load it takes much longer periods before it disconnects.

Re: HELP NEEDED - DET3 constantly disconnecting from PC
I have connected the VR sensor as per attached with shielded wires. The VR sensor is grounded to a different location from the DET3.
P.S> Should I ground the shielding also?
P.S.2. The sparkplugs are NGK BKR7E resistor type they're like new.

Re: HELP NEEDED - DET3 constantly disconnecting from PC
An update.
It's not disconnecting if I don't go in full boost (load) up until red line. With or without the MAP sensor connected.

Re: HELP NEEDED - DET3 constantly disconnecting from PC
OK i will first thing in the morning.
One more thing. Shouldn't it disconnect also if the ignition system is faulty when the revs go to redline under no boost? Because as I said it disconnects mostly when under boost.

Re: HELP NEEDED - DET3 constantly disconnecting from PC

Re: HELP NEEDED - DET3 constantly disconnecting from PC
Some things to be checked:
1) Power your laptop from battery only
2) Your USB cable can be broken
3) Check DET3 ground connection. If you connect DET3 to ECU power ground it can cause problems
4) Check if there is a continuity between DET3 ground and DET3 USB connector shield

Re: HELP NEEDED - DET3 constantly disconnecting from PC
Hi,
Found the problem. There was no continuity between DET3 ground and DET3 USB connector shield.
I used a bridge wire to solve the problem.
Tested for about 20 min at different loads and it worked. DET3 stayed connected the whole time.
Keep you posted.
Thanks for the help!
