My det3 has two issues in piggyback mode.

- car will not start after being switched off unless connected to the laptop, runs fine without the laptop once started but will not restart after engine is turned off. I have temporarily solved this by wiring the unit to permanent live but this is not ideal.

- also when monitoring the engine on the laptop the det3 disconnects frequently and status is "cannot connect"

Sounds like you're not saving the changes you make, that will cause the changes to be lost when you cycle the key.

As far as USB connectivity issues, check all your grounds and ensure that your laptop isn't plugged into a charger while you're using it.
