So i think i fried my DET3...

Post by Koop » Sat May 28, 2016 10:54 pm

I recently purchased a det3 and was eager to try it, and wired everything into my Subaru Forester S-Turbo yesterday.
It ran OK, but had a lot of ignition sync errors, watching the log it kept jumping up and down, dropping to zero sporadically.
After at couple of minutes the rpm signal spiked to both ends of the scale and just disappeared.
I've followed the wiring diagram for a Subaru GT, it needed some checking of Subaru diagrams as the Forester is a little different but it seemed fine at first.
After the rpm signal disappeared the check engine light came on and the car ran really rough, and when I stopped it wouldn't start back up. After connecting the crankshaft sensor back as stock, the car ran but still rough, I had to connect the MAF wires back to stock to get rid of the CEL.
Did my det3 break in a spectacular manner? I could see analog #1 input and output voltage, but none of the map changes I did seemed to make any difference.
What have I done wrong, and is my det3 screwed now?

So maybe i've over-volted the ign in-input. Is there a way to get it repaired?

There is always a way to repair DET3, but You must send it to Us as soon as possible.

Got my det3 back from poland a couple weeks ago, wired it back up today. Last time i got pretty disappointed and pretty much just cut the wiring out and soldered everything back as stock, so today was a new install from scratch.
One thing that jumped out at me while i was combimg through the loom was that the wire for ignition out was in the wrong place. Seems like i wired in bipolar ignition out inverted and not the regular one the last time. That would make for some interesting symptoms i believe.

Anyways, it all works in piggyback mode now, adding TPS input and boost control solenoid soon :)

If you have a turbo car, you shouldn't use the TPS signal at all. You want to use the MAP sensor pressure signal as load.

I want to use TPS as correction for the boost control map. Would never use anything else than MAP for load ;)
