MK2 escort - SR20DET + DET3

Hi All,
I have a MK2 escort which I have fitted a Nissan SR20det engine to and use for drifting and as a road / track toy
Here is the build thread:
http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drift-c ... rt-26.html
Every thing on the car has been done by myself in my shed so when it came to ecu mods, the DET 3 unit looks perfect until I can afford an EMU ECU.
The engine is currently running the standard Nissan tune and ECU. I have fitted the turbo from an Evo6 and made a few other tweaks so I now need to tweak the fuelling to get it perfect.
Tonight I will be fitting:
-Det3 Unit (4bar internal map sensor version)
-AEM Wideband gauge and controller
I will be doing the tuning in stages, hopefully ending up using the DET3 in fuel implant mode, without an AFM. As a start point though, I plan to use it in the basic mode, configured as follows:
Analog input #1 - AFM signal (0-5V)
Analog input #2 - Wideband signal (0-5V)
Analog input #3 - Not connected **need to earth?*
Analog input #4 - Not connected **need to earth?*
Power out #1 - To –ve side of boost solenoid
Power out #2 - Not used
The wiring to the engine loom is different to the S14 layout on ecumaster.com as I am using a S14a Ecu / loom. I will post up a picture of the revised pin numbers.
I have had a little play with the software already so am looking forwards to being able to use it on the car.
Cheers

Hi my friend i have tune my friends s13 with sr20det with vtc black stock two years ago using det3 400kpa peggy pack mode i can send you my tune. In octomber i will change it to FIT mode is much better i suggest you to do the same. also analog 2 is the internal map of det3 connected.
usualy when i use peggyback mode i wire them as:
analog1: map/maf in
analog2: not use due to internal map (dont ground it leave as it is)
analog3: lunch contorl
analog4: wide band in
if you dont use analog input better to ground them .
probably you will need injectors upgrade sr20 are to small to run big boost

Hi!
Cool, that would be awesome if you could send me your files
What RPM did you find it reved to as standard? I thought the limiter was near 7500rpm but DET3 is only saying 6950 rpm
I would like to fit bigger injectors next and remove AFM. I would love to know how you get on with FIT mode as that is something I would like to do.
I got the car running last week, just in time for the final round of the drift series I compete in. I did some very rough road tuning to the fuel table to make sure it wasn’t too lean on boost and so I was confident it wouldn’t melt. It was by no means perfect but was better than it was before I haven’t touched the timing table yet.
AEM Wideband in and wired through DET3
Connected and running
Car performed very well at the track (Pembrey in Wales). Car took a lot of abuse (final corner is 4th gear, rev limiter) but performed perfectly. I managed to win!.
Next up is to do some proper logging and mapping. I would like to do a maf to map conversion but the first time I tried it didn’t work (I didn’t have any more time to investigate)
Cheers!

For info, unit now set up as follows:
Analog input #1 - AFM signal (0-5V)
Analog input #2 - Internal map sensor **external wire not connected*
Analog input #3 - Wideband signal (0-5V)
Analog input #4 - Not used yet **earthed*
Power out #1 - To –ve side of boost solenoid
Power out #2 - Not used
AFM to MAP Conversion

I started playing with th eAFM > MAP conversion setup last night..
Staring with a log I took the other day I clicked "MAF > MAP conversion"..
Then the configs were set as follows.....
Which gave this fuel map as a start point...
I then spent some time filling in all the holes and generally smoothing the map around cells which the log suggested were OK. The area around idling was tidied up a bit and I tried to get it nice and smooth. This is what I ended up with:
I uploaded it to car last night. Hopefully I will get chance to try it on the road tonight and start building on it.

Drove it to work this morning with MAP (AFM still there, just connected) and it worked
Did some really rough tweaks to make sure it was safely rich up top on boost then gave it a few full throttle pulls on the way home....
Lots of work to do to the map now but I am so happy it is running that well

It drives very smoothly as well whereas it would sometimes stutter with the AFM (maybe because it was so close to turbo??)

Bit more tinkering...
Still needs more fuel in the mid range but it is getting there!

Thanks
Indeed, FIT mode will be the project for spring when I have a bit more time.
I have some larger injectors coming so will fit those and tweak the map.
I would also like to sort the boost control, using DET3. At the moment it is using a ball and spring type manual boost controller. This is not giving very good control.
Cheers
