Audi TT MK1 with EmuBlack and ADU

Post by AudiTT_Italy » Wed Feb 27, 2019 12:14 pm

Hi guys,
in the second half of march i'll finally regain mine Audi TT mk1 1.8 t with APY engine.
The car is only track use and actually is from a tuner in Turin.
I'll decided for an Emublack (the car have DBW, haldex, etc) with ADU 7".
I'm really a novice with motorsport ecu and display, until today i've always kept ther car original ecu (mapped from revo).
Since i'm new to this, i would like to know if there is something that i must do with the EmuBlack or ADU, some precautions or hints from people that already use it, or if i need to post something here when i get my car back
Also i'd like to know how to obtain real time data from the EmuBlack (or telemetry), and if there are some parameters with i could "work" also if i'm not a tuner (for example: if, connecting EmuBlack to my PC, if there are some values that i can try to change safetely to test the ecu and the car).

Sorry for my bad explanation but i'm really new to this and i'd really like to learn everything.
(i've read the EcuBlack and ADU pdf manual already but i havent find some operational situations example)

Thanks in advance

There is a long road ahead converting from the stock engine management over to any standalone. I'm sure the EMU Black is capable of running your setup to some extent but there are all kinds of crazy things OEM's do with modern engine management. That may mean your current ecu is doing more than engine management. The first thing you should probably look into the is the hardware side of it. Can the EMU accept and distribute all the necessary signals to fully take the place of the OEM ecu? Does a company make a plug and play harness to directly swap in the EMU? Once you figure that out you should probable start looking to a base setup. I haven't looked at too much of the VW in the ECUmaster base map google drive. If they don't have one you could be in for a lot of work getting it setup and running on the software end of things as well.
