All,
I'm excited to be using the ECUMasters EMU Black on my new drag car build!
The car is being setup with a Big Block Ford. The best option available is the MSD 8644 flying magnet crank trigger setup for the primary trigger.
This pickup has 4 trigger magnets each 90 degrees apart from each other.
I figure to get reference to TDC that the second trigger must be from the Distributor which will be a MSD 8580 which uses a magnetic pickup as well. I'm not sure of the spacing on the trigger wheel.
This can be done correct? If so, what are the correct settings to start with in the EMU Black? I assume I will have no problem with the triggers and running sequential?
Cheers

Re: Using a MSD Flying Magnet crank trigger and distributor
The most important thing is that the possition of tooth on crank wheel will be 40-60 before TDC.
The location of CAM tooth is not important (should only not overlap with the ckp tooth),you can configure it in software.
However if it is possible 36-1 or 60-2 trigger wheel would be better solution (due to higher signal resolution)

i´m in the same boat , got a project that have msd system and thinking about running ignition and maybe fuel later on .
msd have a hall sensor that could be run whit the msd magnets

I would not use the MSD flying magnet crank trigger. I have seen many cases where they do not work with engine management systems. You need at least 24 teeth to get good resolution for ignition. That website shows many trigger wheels with multi teeth. You need to use one of them. The MSD thing that is only suitable for MSD ignitions.
