Hi guys,

I am looking at getting a black for my Toyota jzx100 1jz vvti,

I talked to a tuner/dealer in my area he was quite
knowledgable, only thing that he told me that i would like a second opinion on was that in his opinion the 4.2 sensor is more reliable than the 4.9 due to the controller on the black.
Is there any truth to this?

I've had both setup on different projects and the 4.9 has been more reliable for me. This was using an AEM controller for both the 4.2 and 4.9. I started switching all of my projects over to the 4.9. I'm only using the 4.9 now on the EMU Black and I have about 1500 street miles on the setup so it hasn't proven it's self yet. Of course if you trust your tuner I would go with whatever they suggest. Either one will probably work fine. Any reason why the EMU controller specifically could cause issues with the 4.9? I'm just curious.

Just an update. I'm starting to have issues with the 4.9 on the EMU Black setup after about 3000 miles. I haven't had a chance to fully diagnose the problem but the other day I shut off the closed loop control because I was having unpredictable part throttle performance. When I did a few logs I noticed the wideband reading was all over the place.
