Request for new features

Post by alpa » Tue Nov 04, 2014 11:43 pm

Hi,
I've been using DET3 on my Alfa GTV 1.8 for 1 year and I'm quite happy. It works well.
But it needs some improvements especially on the host tool side.

Improvements:
- Today the fuel map correction is always shown in the signal value change (actually even worse, in number of steps) even when a scale file was provided (.def file). This is very inconvenient and especially when used with a non-linear sensor like MAF. It'd be great to have the fuel map output value in the scaled value (like airflow kg/h) and your tool would convert this in physical corrections behind the scene (and warn when output is impossible/overflowed). Or alternatively to show value in Volts taking into account the selected output resolution.
- In the log the values are the just voltage possibly displayed in a different value (when scale .def is provided). This makes MAF log very non-linear and thus difficult to analyze. The log should be able to show values linearized and re-scaled, for example in kg/h.
- It would be nice to have an integrated converter (or just a pointer to the right tool) to get .def equations from Bosch MAF specs (instead of searching for a week and find this in the Excel).

New feature:
-
- It'd be great to log a measure of the ignition advance. (modified)
I suddenly realized my initial request was stupid. However it'd be nice to somehow know evolution of the ignition advance from some known point (idle) as OBD (when available) data is slow and because I suspect it to be false in many cases. For example measure angle shift between 60-2 reference tooth and an ignition signal.

It would be nice to have a water-proof version with a true automotive connector, I'm ready to pay $100 more for this.
Also your ground wires on the PC are not large enough, I had to make them thicker to get rid of ground float problems (I removed the connector anyway, the DET3 is located outside but not under the hood).

Thanks

alpha,

excellent suggestions..

i also have an upgrade i would like to request. i am using the det3 to control boost via their 3500 mac valve.

under "boost control"

please can you offer different units of measurement.. currently its in kpa.. it would be very convenient to have it in bar and super convenient in psi.

100kpa = 1bar (roughly)

yessir,

but having it in whole numbers, bars and psi will decrease the need to click the up or down arrow countless times. i will be running it from a windows based tablet.

hahahaha :) yes...

it would be more efficient to go from 14psi to 19psi in 5 clicks of the up arrow.. instead of sitting there banging on the key board 20 times to do the same thing :)

have both options available in bar and psi.. bar for the rest of the commonwealth and psi for the north americans..
