ive been having spark blowout trouble on my gen4 3sgte , while scanning the map i noticed the dwell correction on on a ramp down to 80% by 8k from 500 ( 500 = only point at 100% )
i changed this to 100% all through and now with 2.7ms dwell in logs im running fine up to 8k @ 1.8 bar ( hopefully a good 550+hp at this )
i just wondered is there any reason this setting should be there or am i fine as i am ?
importance of dwell correction vs rpm ? if any ..
Re: importance of dwell correction vs rpm ? if any ..
I'm running the same dwell with no RPM correction on my GEN4's, but only running 400HP at wheels with billet compressor on otherwise stock CT15.Welshman wrote:ive been having spark blowout trouble on my gen4 3sgte , while scanning the map i noticed the dwell correction on on a ramp down to 80% by 8k from 500 ( 500 = only point at 100% )

that will do for me , i dont remember setting it , maybe the wizard did it if i clicked on a coil set sometime .
Re: importance of dwell correction vs rpm ? if any ..
We commonly use the following correction. It could improve idle speed (less misfires due to higher spark energy) and due to low effective DC it doesn't influence the coild temperature / life.

im also having spark blow out over 18psi with my 1jzgte but before switching to EMU, I was able to run 21psi smoothly. also using a conservative 0.025" plug gap.
the coil dwell corr table is untouched from the original 2jzgte base map I began with.
I did try to increase the coil dwell time table under the normal operating voltage regions but afraid to make large changes because I don't want to overheat the coils.

mine improved once i put the dwell correction to 100 .
if you look a your logs it will tell you the actual dwell when its running .

Re: importance of dwell correction vs rpm ? if any ..
today, i finally went into my emu and changed my dwell correction to 100% on the last cells. so far, so good. no spark blowout yet at low boost. i have to take the car out under high boost in cooler weather and see if my issue is solved.
if a little dwell correction fixed my low boost problem, i wonder how much the % can be safely increased to combat the spark blowout under much higher boost conditions without damaging the coil packs. i would hate to melt them down or overdrive them.
