How can I set AFR for inj_const calculation

Post by Omibi » Wed Apr 20, 2016 3:03 pm

hello, I'm using a gasoline with an AFR of 11,9 instead of the normal 14,7. How can I set this for a proper calculation of INJ_CONST constant?

Thanks and regards

you need to use advanced lambda fueling then set up the afr/lambda table also in lambda 0.8lam = 11.9afr

otherwise you can only tune it to 11.9 manually

Thanks once more for your response. So if I understand well I can not set the AFR of the gasoline for the calculation of INJ_CONST. What I have to do is to "translate" from the gasoline I want to use to the gasoline of the EMU. I mean, if I'm using my special gasoline and I want a real Lambda of 0,9, I have to put a Lambda of 0,72 in the AFR/lambda tables for the calculation. Is this right?
Doing this will avoid EGO feedback usage and make the calibration more difficult. I think that the possibility of adding "user defined" gasoline would be a good improvement for future releases.

Lambda is always proper and it is measured by oxygen sensor.
AFR is calculated based on lambda and the fuel type.

So you need to use lambda instead of AFR

hi again,
I'm using advanced lambda fueling and working with lambda values, but, how can I tell to the ECU that for the gasoline I'm using Lambda=1 is 11.9 AFR? If the ECU uses the usual 14,7 AFR for calculations, injection times are going to be wrong and I will have the mixture leaner than it should.

simply if you are using normal Pb fuel Lambda=1 is 14.7 and this cannot be changed because of simple equation

instead you can set up lambda 0.8

or use Fuel Type: Gasoline + 50% ethanol (in oxygen sensor setup)

In advanced mode the EMU works on Lambda not on AFR. Forget about AFR. Lambda is the value that is measured by sensor and this is used for calculation.

Hi again
Thanks for those tables, the gasoline I'm using is 11.9 AFR so ethanol 50 is perfect.
I'm working with lambda from the beginning but a question, is it not taking in account fuel type for injection time calculation? I though it was, that is why i was asking how to indicate to the emu that the gasoline I was using is 11,9 AFR. If the fuel type is only use to show the proper AFR value, i don't mind fuel type.
Thanks!!!!

Lambda is always the same 1= stoich (perfect burn) regardless of the fuel type and its only the AFR thats different for different fuels. (for gasoline its 14.7 etc) So just tune using lambda and use lambda 1 as stoich and it does not matter what the afr is :)

Wiki:
Stoichiometric or Theoretical Combustion is the ideal combustion process where fuel is burned completely. A complete combustion is a process burning all the carbon (C) to (CO2), all the hydrogen (H) to (H2O) and all the sulphur (S) to (SO2).
