SC300 Help

Hey guys I'm working on a 1994 Lexus SC300. It uses a Distributor, and a KMV sensor.

I have it in piggyback mode

Pin 31A is 12v

Pin 69B is ground

Pin 66B is KMV Signal

Pin 27B is Crank signal.

So for the KMV I have it attached to the Frequency In and Out on the DET3, and for the Crank Signal I have it on Ignition In and Out.

Both of these have pull up's attached to the Sensor side of it. 8+9 (Crank), 2+10 (KMV).

However, I'm not getting any RPM reading in the ignition setup screen. I get it on the main screen, but it reads low (200 is 1000).

I don't know if I should be using the Bi Polar Ignitions instead.

So after doing some reading, it seems like the 2jzge uses a VR Sensor and not an hall effect.

So I took off the pull up, and wired it to Bi Polar Ignition Out, and a bit better, but the RPM"s are still noisy, and I can't launch control to work

Ignition should be just like the 1jz settings I believe.

That's the thing I'm worried about, I figured it would use a different ignition setting since it uses a distributor.

I understand your concern, but Toyota uses the type of sensors settings on the DIS and CRANK/CAM sensors, I learn this when people were using the TT ecu in N/A set ups.

so the settings for the 1jz should work on the SC300.

Are you running a Turbo/NA set up?

Last time I datalogged the MAf on my 93 SC300 it was a 5 volt, so the settings should be the same as a 1JZ or what I posted.

Ignition settings will be exactly like the 1JZ diagram in the manual.

Airflow meter needs a pullup, and it needs to go to the frequency input, not an analog input.

Zach, you sure about the airflow?? I logged it and it showed voltage vs a frequency.. I know the 7m is for sure a frequency MAF.

Early SC's are KMV sensors. Later model (95+) goes to an MAF

Awwww Learn something new... I wonder if the datalogger I got converts the KMV to voltage??

Anyone got the settings for the KMV sensor? I can't seem to get this one running right.

Car ran good before the DET3, configured the ignition, and get RPM's, but for some reason it's just not running right.

What ignition settings are you using in Setup/Ignition Configuration? Are the rpm in DET corresponding to the car tach?

I used the 1jz settings in the manual like Zach told me to.

I obviously used different pins though.

The RPM's don't actually match the cluster and the software. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't

Which I thought was a little weird

Crank signal is 27B on your diagram. If you cut that and turn the key ,it shouldn't start - if it does that's not the crank signal and your diagram is wrong or for another ecu. If it's right you should plug the engine side to pin 9 DET and ecu side (of the crank wire) to pin 5 ecu.Next thing is figuring out what kind of crank wheel have you got (how many teeth) and if you have any missing teeth on it - double it and put the value in 'Num signals per 720' under Setup/Ignition Configuration .Ignition mode can be 'Retard/Advance multitooth signal' and Ignition input type can be 'VR sensor adaptive threshold'.
Any luck?

Yeah all that was already setup.

I just need some help with the KMV sensor.
