honda crank signal in distributor

Post by jaan175 » Sat Jul 02, 2016 10:15 pm

Hello.

Is it bossible to make EMU read crank rotation signal from camshaft multitoothed wheel like most older hondas have? Inside the distributor it have multitooth wheel(with 24 tooth if i remember right), 1 toot wheel for cam sync and 4 toothed wheel. Right now im running with 60-2 crank trigger i made myself but it have some issues like unexpected missing tooth read. ECU receive false read if i start the car and in hi rpm(5800). I thingk its my poorly made crank sensor holder which vibrates too much. So time to try the original crank sensor in distributor.

try putting maybe a 4 in the "next edge rejection angle" on the primary trigger settings should fix your current problem

Next edge rejection angle wasn't made it better. Chanced the sensor and it worked, but how long because sensor somehow want to be unusually close to the wheel. Still need to make original trigger setup work.
From primary trigger selection "CAM toothed wheel with additional tooth" is it a cam trigger wheel itself with additional tooth or a cam multitooth trigger wheel + segond trigger with 1 tooth for sync? Can some1 explain that, im somehow confused. I can just weld 1 gap between the two tooth and make it the additional one.

sry for my bad english

select multitooth for primary trigger and set number of tooth equal to half of the tooth on CAM
for cam select one tooth

For honda distributor select passive coils (it is active coil but it is controled like pasive one)

You're doing a great job! Im running wasted spark coilpack and full sequential fueling. Now i just need to figure out the first trigger tooth and lets see how this option works.

Emu not recive the crank signal. Mabe the original trigger sensor is not suitable to emu? With original ECU it was running great. With the 60-2 crank trigger what i made myself it runs aswell but no signal from original mulitooth trigger. Same kind of sensor it have in cam 1 tooth and it reads this if its on secondary trigger, if i hook this cam sensor to ECU crank wires to see if it gets someting to the scope its not getting signal also. Now im thinking to get hall type sensor to my selfmade 60-2 trigger wheel its not so demanding as vr sensor.

EMU will read all sensor types

is the honda sensor hall or VR? that will make big difference!

2 wire magnetic sensors so i quess VR. The car is Honda Prelude 1994 with f20a4 engine.

There should be no problem at all with f20c sensors. Could you send a picture of your ckp and cam configuration ?

Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached. How i fix this?

I think the original sensor is broken if car is running and i attach volt meter to it, its not reading any value.
If i get new sensor for original multitooth trigger then how i set up the correct timing? The cam trigger will sync about 80degrees before TDC then i put "first trigger tooth" 1 and trigger angle will be angle from first trigger tooth to TDC about 70degrees and with timing light i change the trigger angle until i get correct timing, am i correct or missunderstood?

Emu just cant see the original sensor signal in low rpm. If i spinn it faster it gets reading above 1500+ rpm. Is there a cure for this? I read that in MS2 you need to adjust some switches inside the ECU to make it work but with EMU i have no idea. Mabe try to make signal stronger or use vr to hall converter?

Get the original multitooth staff working. Crank sensor ground was on 5+ supply. But now i tried the hall senor just too see will it work and it was counting all the 58 teeth easy but no sync. I was holding the sensor with my hand in the sensor hole begause the new sensor is different shape than the old one is this the case? or something else is wrong
