US version windows not supported - FIXED

Trying to connect the ecu via the USB however I get a message stating us windows version not supported? Or similar and the program closes.

I'm not off to a good start and feeling somewhat frustrated.

Can anyone help me out?

what windows version you got?
and what emu version you got?

Give us some more information. Where do you live? Where did you purchase the EMU? And every EMU now comes with a business card inside with a link to download the software, CDs are no longer included as the latest versions of the software are always available online.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I have an emu ecu (silver) as purchased new from the Australian website. It was delivered directly from China.
I have windows xp installed on the old battle rig in the shed. I am in Victoria, oz if that makes any difference.

I was not aware CD s are not included anymore, I was only going by the product description which says it is. Perhaps time for an update?

I thought I did download the program from ecumaster.com however I will try again from the link provided. I know I tried originally from the aus site but Norton wouldn't allow it.

I'll have another crack tonight, now the initial frustrations have passed.

I'll be running an old sohc ford 2lt pinto as found in the cortinas and escorts. I've had a little bit of experience with ecu's as i was previously running an old ems dualsport. However time for a rebuild and new ecu so I thought I'd try something a little different and will be a new learning curve.

Will let you know how I get on.

Hi Shaun, i too have the same problem with the ECU that i purchased from the aussie seller. We have updated the software to the latest version 1.181EXP 1 and has not changed anything, still comes up with the US version not supported.
I am going to ring him and hopefully find a solution!

Phil,

Glad it's just not me then!

Please let me know of the solution. I have tried changing the region on languages with in windows with no luck. A mate who is more computer savy than me muttered something about language packs and regions not being sufficient for some programs if the initial installation was the wrong region, i.e. US and not UK or oz.

He suggested reinstalling windows which seems rather dramatic.....

At the moment I have a brand new ecu that I can't use. :(

Hi Guys
we all buy the same ECU's directly from Poland. As far as i know there are only 2 versions, Polish and English so as long as you have an English verson of windows it can work.... but i have to say XP is a very old and outdated OS now

Shaun i only sent you that one from my re-seller in Taiwan because Im out of stock in Aus and head office Poland also doesnt have stock until later this month. I have setup and or tuned lots of them in both countries all with the same laptop and never had any connection problems so there is no difference where they are sent from etc.

If you do a forum search you will find a few other instances of the same problem and almost always fixed with software/firmware or USB driver update, You must download and install the latest test version software from the ANNOUNCEMENTS section of this forum, not available on the main ecumaster website.

Managed to finally get back to this and the problem is now sorted.

Seems operator error was to blame it appears after retrying from the latest versions all is working as it should once updated from the ...testVersions.html link as suggested.

Thanks again for those that helped out here.

Trying to connect to old ECU Master ECU (software says 1.158 version required)

Old english windows XP laptop running "testVersion" 1.189 works just fine.
New swedish Windows 10 pro laptop + 1.189 = "us windows version"


Have had this issue and retried both official and test releases in hopes that you have fixed it. I've emailed you test (a) ecumaster.com and we will see if I can provide enough info for you.
