Ignition timing misalignment and help with base tune

Post by blitz » Sun Mar 12, 2017 8:07 pm

Hello,
Adriano from Italy, new to Standalone efi tuning please go easy on me!
I've a 1994 supra, 2jzgte with V160 6 speed, stock block, stock coils/amplifier, single turbo Precision T67 dbb with supporting mods, around 450hp at 13,5psi/0,92bar on mapecu2 with stock fuel.
Installed new fuel system (walbro 450lhp, 83lbs/872cc lucas/delphi injectors, an-10 main line, return an-8, fuel rail, mallory 1:1 fpr) and gone with Emu Black with EMU PNP harness, adapted to Black pinout.

Tuned the car with mapecu2 just to start and idle, checked stock ecu with a timing light and i'm around 8degress in diagnostic mode (should be 10) and around 15-20 degress at idle.
Swapping to Emu black i think i've good sync and with 1000cc basemap (slightly modified) car starts with struggle and run quite fine, just some random misfire, but my timing readings are far off.

I'm a bit lost....i've to modify the trigger angle to match my timing light with timing setup shown on the emu?

Apart from this i've some misfire at every revs, i've used siemens deka 875cc for calculation, couldn't find lucas 83lbs Off time data.

Thanks for any input, i'll attach scope, log and basemap used. Right now i've only an Lc1- wideband controller input on analog in 2, missing IAT sensor,i've a fixed resistor on the OEM IAT connector.

In help file and manual is all about ignition trigger. In each window is blue icon with question mark and comprehensive help.

gregpe: i've read manual and help file and quite undestood operating principle, this is my first standalone on my personal car and was a bit lost on ignition triggers.

Jadzwin: thank you for the base map, comparing it with the 2jzgte 1000cc EMU basemap originally posted on fb there are couple of changes in trigger setup (pulldown enable), idle motor (different Frequency and Stepper steps) and knock sensor settings, i'll give this a try this evening.

Thanks again

Adriano

Used original Emu 2jzgte wiring diagram posted on Fb and here, adapted to Black pinout: CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR 1, ECSS pin B26 to Black B21 pin, CAMSYNC In #1 (on EMU is B15). I'll attach the wiring schematics.

With your map car start and idle way better then before, misfiring at idle is gone and timing is aligned right or at least like the stock ecu, timing locked at 10 degrees show 5-8degrees on timing light now, same with Black and stock Ecu.
Car run rich probably for my injectors setup, i hit fuel cut around 2000rpm, tomorrow i've more time and try again.

Thank you

Adriano

Some more test, started from Jadzwin map, modified for 872cc inj amd mod to idle at 950rpm.

I've redone a scope and timing light test, they are quite spot on (5-6 when locked at 10 degrees, around 10degrees when at 15), there is something i can do to improve it?
Cars start and idle just fine, hit overrun fuel cut around 2k rpm when giving light throttle, it simply require timing/afr tuning or is another type of problem? trigger sync seems good.

I'll attach scope, log and map. Don't open the .gz files, simply rename removing extension ".gz" from the files, don't know why winrar do this.

Thanks again for any help
