1jz running rich

Post by ryanaxberg » Tue Mar 14, 2017 4:45 am

I have a 1jzgte running a emu and I got it running but it is really rich and just not running right. I put siemens deka 80lb injectors in it and it has better flowing intake and 3 inch straight pipe. Other than that it is stock. I loaded a stock 1jz tune on it and changed the injector size up to 875cc and I used the injector wizard for the injector calibration. I checked and it is getting spark at every cylinder and the fuel pressure is set to a base pressure of 40 psi. It shows that the target afr is 14.7 at idle but it is at like 10.0 afr. I have messed with the the idle reference table and that doesn't seem to change it very much. If anyone has any suggestions of what it might be I would appreciate it. Thanks

I'm having the same issue. I'm using sard 800cc injectors. I even rewired the injectors and converted to sequential injection instead of batch fire (I have a non-vvti 1jz). I'm running the emu in advanced lambda with a 1.0 target at and around idle. I can crank the ve fuel table all the way down and still idle a 10.0 afr (.68 lambda). I even tried adjusting injector latency since that was the issue I had when I was running these injectors with the stock ecu and Emanage Ultimate. Now I'm stumped. If you figure it out please let me know! I'll do the same.

Strangely enough, mine decided to idle just now. Attached are my config file and a short data log from when it wouldn't idle.

Yeah, I don't know man. I got it to run a little better by increasing the injector size, but it doesn't seem like that is the right way to do it. I think I will probably take it to a tuner by me and hopefully he can figure it out. I like doing stuff myself, but I don't really know what else to do at this point. I will let you know if I get it sorted out.

Injector size is not important. I have standard 370cc standard injectors in my 1jz gte vvti, my tuner had to set them to 500cc to get the car to run right.

I am now changing to 550cc injectors and my tuner said to set to around 700cc just to takr it to be tuned again as it wont be perfect.

So just changing the injector size in the setting wont solve anything, it will have to be tuned.

Mine is running fine now. Injectors were wired for sequential fire. The idle correction (duty cycle) that was set in the base map I got was way off. I had to change the values to between 50-60 and i adjusted the set screw on the TB. Lower DC raises idle. Higher DC lowers idle. I set the injector dead time for my SARD 800cc hi-Z injectors to (i think) manufacturer setting that i found on google. Base fuel pressure is set to 43.5psi. Cold starts are still a little rough until the afterstart time period set in the idle parameters expires.

Once it ran close to perfect i enabled PID and ignition control for idle. It idles between 14.3 and 15.3 AFR now.

cool, I'm glad to hear it. Are you talking about the idle reference table is what you made all of them between 50 to 60?

..shaking head with fingers on forehead....

im glad to see you guys jumping in and learning but you really should do the following before you go any further!

update to the latest test version software (see announcements section of the forum) then update the firmware in your ecu (go online with the ecu, Files/ Update firmware) convert your AFR table to Lambda, fill out your charge temp table and change to ADVANCED LAMBDA fueling (fueling/ General) set your correct injector size in the settings! I see one of you is using the advanced fueling but you still need to fill out your charge temp table.

THEN make it run at the correct AFR/ Lambda by adjusting the VE table and watching your lambda gauge on the TUNE DISPLAY

if you do any tuning with basic fueling it is not as good and your whole VE table will need doing again if you ever want to update to the much better advanced fueling.

thanks, I will give it a try. I tuned a evo that I had but this is a bit more involved.

Can you update on your findings, I'm also working on my 1J with siemens deka 80lb's and running super rich with the 1J ID1000 tune I found on the facebook group with injector size lowered to 875, dead times adjusted properly.

Going to try converting to advanced fueling once the weather gets nicer.

It is working better but I still have to do a bit of work to it. The throttle responds is pretty bad also. I also disabled the idle valve because I want to delete it at some point.

your target map looks a little odd and flat....
