Bmw m62b44 turbo trigger

Post by pepifebles » Sat Jul 08, 2017 2:30 pm

Hi guys, I have ignition problem with my m62b44 v8 turbo drift car. Only runs 4 or 5 cylinders. I check wiring, fitting order etc but think that my trigger setting (trigger angle) can be the problem.

Any help?
Thanks

i dont think...... trigger can make you run on 5 cylinders if you have them paired .....
Ignition firing order is 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2 (except S65 = 1-5-4-8-7-2-6-3).
Bank-1 is the passenger side (cylinders 1 through 4), bank-2 is the driver side (cylinders 5 through 8).

Cylinder 1 its passenger side near to front of car. Ok?

if you sit inside, you have first cylinder on all front and right

I dont know where is the problem. Initially cylinders 2 and 8 not works. Wiring, coils, sparks checked. With strobe light, ignition timing its completely wrong, OT marks dont match.
Dont use Cam sensor

Why do you fire order 1234 1234 ?

i use it normal 1342 1342

in my experience the trigger works on cca 5tooth and 50degree , but i cant tell you exactly, because my work notebook is in the shop

Could it be that problem will be rising trigger edge instead falling trigger edge?

M60 crank wheel its in front of engine but my M62 its in the back of engine.

connect>
IGN1 1+6
IGN2 2+8
IGN3 3+5
IGN4 4+7

set
firing order 13421342

set
first trigger tooth to 5 and offset cca 50degree

then try to adjust it with timing lamp, large steps with tooth count and small with the angle

the same pairing and order with the injection just use only one times 1342 and set "squirt twice per cycle"

finish

if you are then not succesfull, you are doing something very wrong

What do you mean offset cca?

I looked in my setup..... first trigger 1 , trigger angle 58

But on other engine with other sensor first trigger 6 and angle 51

so try what will start your engine and then finetune it with timimng lamp

This is the problem. In my old m60 first trigger is 3 and angle 49. There is a difference, m60 cranks sensor its in front of Engine in a small pulley, and in my actual m62 crank sensor its in the back of Engine, just in a gearbox Window.

Now the problem is too gap between timing marks (Engine cover and crank mark) and when I change angle value or trigger only get down the gap a little. Engine is completely out of time

Hi newly, Today begin to map but don't know if trigger its completely correct or there is another error. At idle without boost, engine revs up fine, but running and boost increase, feels like ignition cut and don't increase revs with too many explosions. I try change dwell time and get a little improve but its a disaster. Log, ignition, fuel, boost it seems correct, but something causes this explosions and the car don't run.

Any advise?
Thanks

If it does iproove with the DWELL, so it must be coil/spark related.
What is you spark GAP ? Do you use this shitty two end electrodes ?
Startd with gap arround 0,5-0,7mm this should work fine

Looking into your log.... set the DWELL to 5ms at 12-14Volts, use single tip plugs and gap them to 0,6mm

should be huge iproovment.
