Hi Guys,

I see that you have more experience with ford coilpacks than I do. I have one strange problem.

I have connected ford EDIS coilpack (1&4, 2&3) to EMU coil1 and coil2 outputs, +12V directly from battery (with fuse). I am using wasted spark ignition (without cam sensor).

Unfortunately, as I have observed with strobe light, 1st and 2nd cylinders are firing twice per cycle (correct), but 3rd and 4th cylinders are firing only once per cycle. I have tested this with two coilpacks, with both of them I had the same problem.

My connection is similar to this, but without capacitor:

Thank you for any suggestion, I am getting really sick of the Ford stuff.

Hi xmaniekx!

Have you measure the resistans of spark plug lead. And often the coil pack end of lead is easily damaged.
Resistan should be somewhere near 5 kohm.

Other false is that there is a problem in your EMU coil wire.?Measure the resistance of that wire too.(Bad contack??)

Hi,
the problem have been solved by buying brand new BERU coil :)

Now I am waiting for the roads to get finally dry at see how much boost will the coilpack take on, without getting the spark "blown off".

Thanks a lot,
Mariusz

You can't have 12v permanent from the battery you need to have switched 12v.

Sure, my +12V source is activated by relay, didn't mention about it.
