Review my tune, issues inside

Post by MK2MR2 » Mon Jul 13, 2015 8:41 am

I got my MR2 tuned. 93 Gen2 3SGTE motor, well beyond stock. My car cannot boost past 2-3psi or rev past 4100-4200 RPM, I do not know if this is something my tuner did or if it's the motor/setup itself. Point is the motor needs to break in, it has very few miles and I don't think driving it off-boost at that low RPM is good for the break-in...or am I wrong here? Please enlighten me, I am not well versed in the procedures for a break-in...although the vast majority say to do it hard.

I am attaching my Project and Log...I can see that right when I try to floor it, it hits fuel cut and falls flat on it's face.

Any input would be greatly appreciated, I hope my tuner didn't screw me over :(

Is the log driven with the same config file in your post?

Your launch control ist everytime active, when your throttle is over 40% open and you reach 3600 rpm. In you config the launch ist everytime active and goes off when the emu read over 1kmh speed, but you have no speed signal in your log, so then it is not connected to emu and the launch control is everytime active because the speed in emu log is everytime 0kmh!

Hmmm I think I loaded the project file that had a bit more tinkering done with the fuel cut...nonetheless, everything else is the same.

Launch Control...my speedometer is currently not wired in yet, I am using an external unit to watch for speed. However, if I disable Launch Control the car will not accelerate quickly. Say I am in third and want to accelerate, I hold down the pedal all the way and as soon as I do the car bucks and slows down...violent jerk, like it hits fuel cut. No matter what gear it's in, but if I hold the pedal down very slowly, it will accelerate.

Any ideas? Should I leave launch control active? Before I disabled it, I could actually hit the throttle almost all of the way down and it would go...albeit, it would die around 4100rpm but still.

Over 40% throttle and your car goes in launch control mode if your vss isn´t wired in. disable it and your problem should go away.

Do you mean disabling Launch Control or the VSS? I disabled launch control but you saw the effects of that.

My VSS and gearbox config says this:

Should that be "calculated"? Thinking logically, I think it should be "Gearbox sensor" as the VSS is located in the transmission. I'm probably wrong though

I tried adjusting the Launch Control with higher values...I still cannot go WOT. I disabled it, still can't. I am at a dead end, I have no idea what to adjust now :|

Please make another Log with launch disabled and post your configfile.

Here is the latest log. I did contact EMU's support personnel and they revised my #1 Ignition Table, it was pretty bad before. Didn't make a difference though.

Did you make your changes permanent with the button at the left side in the tool bar? Because i cannot find anything else that activates the fuelcut. To be save, can you make an update of the EMU to the newest version, and dont forget to dissconnect the ignition coils and injectors before you start the update. After the update make your actual configuration permanent and try again.

I sure did, I always hit that button before exiting the app or closing the laptop. I will look into the firmware update today.

I know my tuner enabled a fuel cut, but I asked him to set that to 10psi, not 2. Bit of a head scratcher...

In your configfile the map based fuelcut is at 170psi, that sould be not the problem

In the map he sent me, fuel cut was set at 100 kpa and you could see fuel cut enable in the log at the time when he said the issue appeared. Simply a fuel cut configuration issue.

Here are my settings as they sit now:

Image

I thought 100kPa = 14.5psi....or am I off base here? Regardless, I want it to be set to 10psi, so using the math I did before that's 69kPa. Even so, it was set to 100 and the issue is still occuring...how can that be when the car barely reaches 2psi before it cuts fuel.

Also, the Fuel cut under pressure item...do I need that upped or can that remain the same?

Would it make a difference if I said my speedometer was not working at the moment? It has not been properly wired up yet so the ECU does not have a correct VSS signal.

200kpa is 14 psi, 100kpa is 0 psi

Oh my goodness...So, I have been measuring kPa in regards to differential pressure, not pressure relative to vacuum. I feel so stupid.

I am going to up that to 200 tonight and see if that resolves the issue.

SOLUTION!

Post by MK2MR2 » Thu Jul 16, 2015 2:33 am

That did it!! I adjusted the Fuel Cut to 169kPa and it now boosts right to 10psi. I am keeping the RPMs limited to 6k for now, but I am so happy this is resolved!

Thanks a lot for your help everyone! :D

Thats fine!

BUT the config file that you posted together with the logfile, it was not the same that you driving with, because in your file there is the fuel cut above 170kpa.

Correct! That was when I was adjusting the values to see if that was the problem, but what I didn't realize is that I had Launch Control set to Always Active, and it was limiting me in the same manner. Everything is peachy now :) now to adjust a ridiculously high idle!
