Hooked up speedometer now car dies.

Post by kornfed2jz » Tue Jul 14, 2015 12:21 am

Well the whole time I had my car hooked up on the EMU I didn't have my speedometer cable hooked up so I bought one off the supra forums and hooked it up now car dies once I get to 25 30mph. Have no idea what's going on it doesn't just die automatically it will hit the speed and bam no throttle response my afr goes all the way lean just feels like it hit a cut and goes down to 0 rpms then dies. I have no idea what the hell is making it do this.

I posted the file I think. I don't understand what could possibly cause this to happen though.

No I need to switch it to save logs all the time. I'm going to need to do this on a side street or somewhere really close to my house cause when it does it 90% of the time it will die. This has happened twice and both at the worst possible time.

Last time it happened I lost power to my fuel pump completely I had to hot wire my pump to get me home. Fried my 12v 30 amp relay I believe haven't really worked on it since then.

I really need to get my speedo working though would be nice. You see anything in the configfile that could possibly cause this?

For me it sounds like an wiring issue.

You answered your own question. You had an issue with a faulty relay or a bad connection there, it sounds like it has absolutely nothing to do with the ECU and everything to do with bad wiring to your fuel pump.

No its not the fuel pump wiring because the first time this happened I had the ect box plugged in which the switched signal was still live to the EMU. It still did it. Then when I unhooked the speedo cable it drove perfectly fine.

Then I messed with the signal wire cause I found out after I disconnected the ECT box it killed my signal wire. So no wiring is not wrong. After the second time it did this when I plugged the speedo in then my relay went out which I don't understand sounds like something made the relay freak out.

Bump still can't figure this out scared to event drive the car knowing it will die instantly with the speedo hooked up. The car is a mk3 supra ran by a mechanical speedo from the transmission directly to the gauge cluster then that signal goes to the emu. Wiring can't be the issue has to be within the emu itself.
