Oil Pressure sensor Check Engine Light

Post by pepifebles » Fri Jul 17, 2015 11:10 am

Hi guys, I have a doubt about oil pressure sensor. Emu software havent oil pressure check engine light (only have iat, knock, clt etc...) 1 question: If I use my stock 1 wire oil pressure sensor, can I connect to emu and put this check engine light?
2 question: Stock sensor can be read for emu or I need add another one?. Stock sensor isn't connected to stock ecu, only have 1 wire to dash.

Thanks

1-wire sensor is just a switch, to operate low oil pressure light, it is not a pressure sender. You need a pressure transducer to measure pressure.

You can do it with EMU and parameter output. buy a pressure sensor and use one of the parameter outputs. But for your dashboard, you need a ground signal.

i wired my 1 wire oil pressure senser using what was in the stock loom and my light goes out , its most likely not using the ecu at all .

i do have a 3 pin oil pressure senser too but im not sure which pin is which on it so i havnt installed it .

edit . re reading your post you know the one wire goes to the dash .. my check engine light is on all the time is this what you are referring too ?

No, I mean for example..... Can I plug my 1 wire sensor to emu, and get check engine light if pressure is too low?

In general you can but it is a little bit senseless...

So in this situation connect the sensor to spare analog input.

Low oil pressure is much more serious than check engine. If the check engine light up, you can continue your drive (with low load). With the low oil pressure you need to stop immediately,
You can connect separate lamp to EMU to indicate low oil pressure (using parametric output)
