BMW E30 SR20DET (DET3)

Post by MJG » Thu May 28, 2015 3:52 am

Hi all, just joined as my friend Retro-Ed (on here) recommended I got myself a DET3. It's just been ordered so I'll use this thread to track my progress. My plan is to fit 740cc injectors, Evo turbo (like Ed), Poncams and hopefully run around 350bhp. It's already plenty powerful enough but having a bit extra in reserve is going to be handy as I adjust the rear end to get more and more grip.

Car looks like this and is built as a drift car. It's only been running a month or two, so is still evolving quickly.

Brief spec is:

1990 BMW E30 318iS
1995 Nissan S14 SR20DET VVT
SR20DET gearbox
325i welded diff/shafts
Gaz coilovers
Nylon rear subframe and arm bushes
Hydraulic handbrake
Roll cage (just finishing up now)
AEM wideband
249bhp @ flywheel on last dyno ~13psi boost

Thanks :) The roll cage is now installed and I've prepped the wiring loom so it's readily accessible to fit my DET3. Just waiting on the postman now!

The car is going to be slowly evolving but I'm happy with the baseline :D

DET3 arrived but was unfortunately faulty, now, after quite some time, I have it finally installed and working properly!

I've already removed the MAF and am running on the DET3's internal MAP sensor.

Next step is to get the fueling table optimised over the next few weeks.

Huge thanks to retro-ed who inspired and helped me through this whole procedure :D
