2jz Aristo ignition question
Okay this may be a silly question but here goes, My 2jz aristo motor did not come with an igniter. Is there any way to not run an ignitor when using an EMU or should i start looking for another one. This particular motor has three coil packs, 2 cyl per coil pack. Once again sorry if this is a dumb question.

onec my 1JZ/2JZ comes to me, the first thing what i am doing after cleaning is:
put out the old coils + ignitor. and sell it. The money is used to buy new Bosch COPs. In my case, after i did it, still have some money left.....
The orginal components from Toyota are unreasonable expensive. They are made in some EU country, than shipped to Japan and back again ... so the part has already 20000km on clock if you buy it, and it costs 5x the real price.
For example Ecumstaer offers http://efishop.pl/index.php?p53,cewka-z ... -bosch-p65
and i am using other Coils from Bosh

Re: 2jz Aristo ignition question
So i did a bit of research, seems like a lot of people run the AcDelco D585 coils. seems to be fairly priced so i was thinking about going with those. It has four wires going into each coil, one if obviously signal from EMU, then a ground and a 12+. The last wire i read was a shielded ground return, does this sound right? I will go with these coils unless you think i should go with something different.

Depending on your location. If you are from North America, than buy US domestic parts.....2J-240 wrote:So i did a bit of research, seems like a lot of people run the AcDelco D585 coils. seems to be fairly priced so i was thinking about going with those. They are GM "truck" coils, D585, distinguished from other GM coils by the heat sink on top and are smart coils. These coils have a spark 3x hotter than the LS1 coils.
If you live in EU like me, buy EU domestic parts..... this is the easiest and cheapest way. For example i live in 100k City and i can buy Bosh coils in 6 shops, but didnt found one reseller for AcDelco, or GM in whole Country....
Re: 2jz Aristo ignition question
That's what I was reading. That the AcDelco D585 coils are smart coils and that some ECUs can detect which coil had a misfire with the second ground. A guy on youtube just cut those wires off and did not use them. I will be de-pinning them as I do not believe the EMU can read which coil mis-fired. so I will just be wiring three wires, one for 12+ one for ground and another for trigger from the EMU. Thank you for all your help!

Re: 2jz Aristo ignition question
Kyle,
if ou have signal from ECU, +12V source, than the one ground is the ground point neraly ecu, where the ecu is also grounded, and the second ground goes on engine block or head, very near to coils. Its recomended to trust manufacturer instruction, not some Youtube Guy

Re: 2jz Aristo ignition question
Karel,
Makes sense. Ill look to their intended purposes not a youtubers guide lol. but I have a question for you: one ground is nearest the coil pack (somewhere on the engine probably), and the other is near the ECU? should it be my sensor ground B18? or should it be the ECU ground B17 which is grounded near the EMU somewhere in the cabin. Thank you for the clarification!

Sensor ground is only for sensitive sensors like mag pickup, TPS sensor etc..... the "power ground" what uses EMU to switch everything "strong" to ground is basicly shassis ground. This is the main point near to EMU.
Re: 2jz Aristo ignition question
any success with ls coil install im about to purchase them to put on mine was wondering how to wire it up correctly ??
Re: 2jz Aristo ignition question
Hey Karel,
can you give us the serial number of your coils maybe?
And from where did you get those nice brackets?
bye

Re: 2jz Aristo ignition question
Are you selling these brackets too?

Re: 2jz Aristo ignition question
I use this coils too in my bmw.
they run very well. high energy output and built in overdwell protection.
i puchased them from a dealer in netherlands.
about 250€ for 6 coils, including connectors and shipping

Re: 2jz Aristo ignition question
Any luck figuring out the wiring on this 2J-240? I found a guy who sells a kit, and parts of it. I'm looking to buy the brackets off of him: http://www.mojoperf.com/?q=node/3
