BMW OIL temp sensor

I have problem with stock oil temperature sensor on bmw M5 S38B38 engine , it have 1 cable only , I connect it to the pin where the EMU software reat oil temperature but I do not think that it can work in this way , can it be connected somehow or I need other type of sensor ?

Probably it is resisive sensor and it is grounded by engine block/head.
What you need to add pullup resistor to +5V.
The pullup resistor depends of the sensor characteristic Resistance/Temp

Can you suggest oil temp sensor that works directly ?

Most of sensors are resistive ones (like IAT or CLT).

Locked
